Formed January 1996, London…the nom de guerre of multi-instrumentalist Thomas Szasz. After dropping out of the London School of Economics, Szasz started performing to disinterested ghosts in many of South London’s disused meat stores. Industry bigwigs were soon baffled by his cult following, but eventually took notice after a series of self-released EPs based on the concept of “opening conversations with a string of sarcastic rhetorical questions”. This culminated in the debut album Do you lot actually know what you’re doing or what? Can you not follow simple instructions? (1998 ) It was another five years until Szasz was to release another album, the brain plundering Ssmaart aarrsse which reached the upper limits of many critics end of year lists and described by the NME as “a glistening frog in the po-faced broth of mediocrity that is today’s British music scene” After another five year break Szasz is busy recording tbmt’s third effort, Jean Was My Name: (When I invaded the Falklands that time) due for movement on your internet within the near present.
